First time I heard about the Camino ten years ago while I was reading Paulo Coehlo’s books, but what made me thinking of doing the Camino was a movie seen on TV named “The way (Camino di Santiago)”. A very powerful movie and inspirational story about all the challenges we face every day laying the course of our life through an ever changing and complicated world. However, life intervened. Marriage, work, then I moved out the country, have a kid, but I never gave up my dream of the Camino de Santiago di Compostela. The third time I came across the name of Camino di Santiago, was when a friend of mine decided to go with his wife for a religious purpose. Then, I said to myself “the road is getting closer to me”. This year my father passed away and I felt some kind of lost...In those moment of sadness and fear, you came to question yourself about the purpose of life. Is it to give birth as many children as you can? Is it to work hard as a mad until your retirement and maybe far one? I’m asking myself how many of us really enjoy life? How many of us enjoy the nature escaping the noise of the city? And what is more important in life for any of us?...Many questions looking for their answers…That's why I said to myself “I need to go. I need to find myself. I need to find my limits. I need to see how far I can walk every day without being so trained…”So, I decided to walk the Camino Portuguese, from Tui to Santiago and get my compostela. It took me 5 days to complete the trail (LOL).
