Each year, here in Sapporo, for a week at the end of May, it is held the Lilac Festival. In spring, Odori Park is filled with a faint smell of lilac. Odori Park is the main avenue of the city, where each year different events are held for the citizens pleasure and not only.
On the both sides of the Main Avenue, your can be delighted by the soft scent of the white and purple lilac. During this week, events as music festivals, open tea ceremony and giving out of lilac plants would bring the Odori Park to such an excitement life.

Activities like origami and portrait drawing as well as a flea market, with all sorts of odds and ends on sale are waiting their customers all over the street. On a small stage, a variety of performers from local school music bands are pleasing your ears with their music. While you are enjoying the music you can have some
food from the stalls prepared for the event. International flavour such as Indian curry, Turkish cuisine, Spanish, Mexican, Thai, Russian , etc, are there to fill your stomach (lol).
After your meal you can enjoy some glass of wine from the wine garden, where there are many different varieties of wine available for tasting. Each glass of wine is about 500 yen, the same as the dish you would like to try.
After you enjoyed this event, on the way home you can pass by Kawashimo Park for the flowers exhibition. There you can have your give-aways lilac and for those short stay foreigners I will recommend the outdoor Japanese tea ceremonies.
Wish you all coming to Hokkaido for enjoying Sapporo's festivals.
